Liberation is always relative to physical form. Liberation in spite of physical form is not possible. Liberation does not arise out of conscious will or willpower. Abstinence does not liberate, it enslaves. A suffering mind only spreads the suffering to others. In order to stop causing suffering, harm and trauma to others, you first need to liberate yourself from your own suffering and heal.
Bolded for emphasis.
Let's talk about the predicament of being trapped and confined to a traumatic mindset. What I'm referring to here are the major and most complex of social and individual issues - abuse, addiction and suicidal thinking. These are all incredibly complex and difficult traps which people get caught up in, generally through circumstances beyond their control. These are all spiralling issues, and they very quickly get out of control - because of the escalating energy cycles (reincarnation) and getting yourself out of such a trap or predicament is incredibly slippery.
There's a common factor which lies behind abuse, addiction (a form of abuse) and suicidal thinking and that is past karma. Something somewhere happened in your past, out of trauma, and you became trapped in your own past karma through your own subjectivity or Ego structure. Buddhists will tell you that suffering comes out of craving through attachment. As Theravada (a form of Buddhism) was a part of my training and initiation I used to think that for many years. But when I actually started working with people with mental health issues and addictions I learned the truth was completely different. What I learned from working with the mentally ill, people with addictions and the homeless through drama workshops in theatre is a major reason why I created and developed Qultura into an alternative system.
The actual addiction or the abuse is not the real issue here
First let us consider the actions of these issues. You drink anything up to a litre of vodka or whisky and get so pissed or drunk you pass out. This is the action. You berate and verbally abuse your partner and you hit them. This is another action. You make a decision to kill yourself. This is another action. You do all these things to liberate yourself from past karma. Alcohol, abuse, fentanyl, smack, crack cocaine, junk food, cigarettes, these are all vehicles which either take you away from pain or towards pleasure.
Okay so tell me, how long does the 'hit' from a cigarette last? A minute? Less than a minute? Then what? What happens after the few hours of oblivion and numbness which comes with the vodka or rum? How long do you get from thinking about suicide and offing yourself? What I'm driving at here is the outcome, the consequences of your choices, the actual karma behind all the abuse and the addiction and the suicidal bullshit. I can tell you. You're right back where you started, at best. It can easily be worse. You can very easily end up ten or twenty steps behind just from taking one step forward....continue reading
